  I had heard a lot about this place from a bunch of people. Also after reading the reviews I thought it would fall in the fateful category of being all ambiance and no substance. I think Polo Bar hit on both the ambiance and the food. The decor is really cool and it feels like you are stepping into a social club from the early 1900's. We sat downstairs and trust me it is cool. You NEED a reservation even for bar seating btw so book early. Even though it is fancy it is not too stuffy and the service was solid. There are a lot of servers. They are running all over the place.  
  
  As for the food, we started with the crab cake. It had a cool presentation to it with a layer of some sort of stringy crust. Hard to explain but the contrast in texture was on point. I was undecided between the Burger special and the classic burger with fries.  I went with the special and it was pretty good. The burger was cooked just right and the combination of pickle, bacon, and bbq sauce made it work. The fries were crunchy and fried perfectly. They also give you a good sized portion which is always a good sign. For dessert we had the tart with a scoop of ice cream. The tart was delicious.
  
  If you want to enjoy a nice meal and see famous people come here. Be ready to pay $28 for a burger but it is all in the experience. Really enjoyed it here. Come check it out.

  Get the burger. It's one of the best burgers I've ever had. I opted for the mashed potatoes instead of fries, and the portion is big enough for two people.
  
  My friend ordered the filet mignon, which was good, but she wished she got the burger instead. The only miss was the pigs in the blanket. I've had better, and wish I saved all of my appetite for the burger. We also had the Moscow mule which was really good.
  
  I would go again, but only for the burger.

  Caveat: I'm an RL fanatic and hence came in with high expectations.
  
  ....In short, WHAT CAN'T THIS MAN DO?!?  Christ I love this place.
  
  Started at the bar before our reservation. Bartender was super nice and helpful. Had an Old Fashioned and then some Absinthe thing that was Crack. Almost wanted to stay put, but dinner awaits.
  
  You're taken downstairs to an otherwordly experience - not many places with an ambience like this. The crab cakes were amazing!  The menu is really hard to choose from because there are so many incredible options. The strip steak was superb!  Service was spot on.  
  
  Ended our experience back at the bar for more Absinthe. This is now on my list of "annual things that must happen or I will throw a tantrum (lol)".

  On a regular Monday night at 10 PM under ground at the Polo Bar the place is hopping. Movers and shakers from all over the city are in full party mode. The music is playing, people are feeling good about life--Not a seat to be had.
  
  Numerous tables are filled with older men impressing younger women, multi-million dollar deals are being negotiated by business associates, and some people are celebrating a birthday.
  
  The food here is very good, I had the Salmon, but the portions are very very small.  If I did not have a full dinner at 5 PM I would have been hungry.  The dinner portions are more like appetizer portions.
  
  The service is whip-snap sharp by educated professional waiters who make bank.  Bussers frantically run plates out, by and around the restaurant.  I was sitting on the aisle in the line of fire and got hit in the head by a plate being delivered to the table.  No apology until I looked up and exclaimed, "what is going on?"  Then he disappeared for the entire meal and no one came by again to ask if I was okay.
  
  I rubbed my head the entire meal but by the next day it felt better.  It was a special birthday celebration so I did not want to make a fuss right then.  They knew what they did and they avoided me.
  
  I would recommend this restaurant for anyone trying to impress someone else.  Single guys may be able to meet "gold-diggers" after work at the bar upstairs. If you can't generate romance from a potential mate after dining at this place, move on.

  I am obsessed with this restaurant. I was obsessed before I had to call 50 people to get a reservation and I'm even more obsessed after eating here.
  
  First off, good luck getting a reservation, and no you cannot just walk in either. You cannot even walk into the restaurant without a confirmed reservation.
  
  We arrived a few minutes early for our 5:30pm reservation (the only one I could get) and sat at the bar. We ordered a round of cocktails and chowed down on some of the best roasted nuts I have ever tasted. I was so obsessed, I made them bring us more when we sat down to dinner downstairs. A few minutes after 5:30, the maitre d' came over and told us our table was ready and to follow her downstairs. The downstairs is a mix of exclusive polo bar meets Nantucket meets 1960s vibe. The best way to describe it is: bougee, exclusive, upscale and slightly snobby. It's polo!
  
  We started off with a few oysters and their soft shell crabs which came with two dipping sauced. Yay. For dinner I ordered the sweet pea and ricotta raviolis which were delightful.
  
  Service was great overall. Our server was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. I absolutely love this place and cannot wait to go back, it's quite the experience.
